NAMPA - The Crusaders' women's basketball team plays Montana State Billings in the marquee event of "Women in Sports" day at the Johnson Sports Center on the Nampa campus. NNU (10-5, 3-4 GNAC) has a roster that features double-digit scorers Taylor Simmons (Middleton High, sophomore guard, averaging 14.7 points per game) and Chelsie Luke (Meridian High, senior guard, 14.1 ppg). Saturday's game starts at 7 p.m.; girls 18 and younger get in free, and all other seats are $3. Special events begin at 5:30 p.m. and include interaction with the women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball teams. The event is free to all girls and women, and there will be prizes for those participating in activities. Participants are encouraged to sign-up in advance. NNU lost to Seattle Pacific 82-77 on Thursday in Nampa. Megan Hingston led NNU with a game-high 30 points.
NNU MEN'S BASKETBALL: Kevin Rima scored 23 points, but the Crusaders (5-9, 3-3 GNAC) lost at Alaska-Anchorage 92-83.
BOISE STATE MEN'S TENNIS: The Broncos opened the season with a 7-0 victory over Montana State at the Boas Tennis Center. Brendan McClain and Abe Hewko each earned win in their BSU debuts.
IDAHO WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Vandals (12-7) beat Utah Valley 96-55 in Orem to moved to 5-0 in conference play for the first time since the 1981-82 season.
