Letter: Idaho Humane Society

January 17, 2014

Regarding recent Idaho Humane Society plans and the interest they have generated from local vets and pet owners: We are in a recession that has slipped into a depression. How many local pet lovers can afford to properly care for their animals at what vets charge versus Idaho Humane Society? Recently had dental cleanings/blood work for two pets: dog at IHS $320, cat at local vet more than double. We have adopted most of our pets from IHS for 25 years and found IHS to provide exceptional care at reasonable expense. I believe many adopted pet owners would make the sad choice to limit medical care and not adopt older/special-needs pets if there was not expanded services at IHS.
