The Boise Philharmonic’s January concert highlights the human spirit. The title piece — “From the Diary of Anne Frank” by American composer Michael Tilson Thomas — combines Thomas’ rich melodies with excerpts from Frank’s diary read by Boise Contemporary Theater’s Tess Gregg Worstell. The program rounds out with Martinu’s “Memorial to Lidice,” a tribute to the World War II massacre victims in that Czech city, and Neilsen’s Symphony No. 4, “The Inextinguishable,” written after World War I.
