Boise State women hold off late rally, beat Nevada

BOISE — The Broncos’ basketball team led by 17 points with a little more than seven minutes remaining, then held on for a 67-64 victory at Taco Bell Arena on Wednesday night. Nevada (7-9, 2-3 Mountain West) closed to within three points, but Boise State (7-8, 2-2) made field free throws in the final three minutes to secure the victory. Deanna Weaver recorded her first double-double for Boise State with a team-high 18 points and career-high 10 rebounds. The junior wing also recorded a team- and career-best four assists. Lexie Der followed with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Miquelle Askew battled Nevada’s 6-foot-8 Mimi Mungedi to finish with 10 points and six boards. Yaiza Rodriguez added eight points and three assists.
