No kids injured in school bus crash near Middleton

January 14, 2014

No children were injured Tuesday morning when a car pulled into the path of a school bus on Purple Sage Road northwest of Middleton shortly before 7:30 a.m., Canyon County Sheriff's Lt. William Adams said.

The bus suffered minor front-end damage but no one aboard was injured, Adams said. Although the bus was driveable, Middleton Bus Co. sent another bus to take the children to Purrple Sage Elementary so the damaged bus could be thoroughly checked out, he said.

A 55-year-old man who lives in that rural area was driving south on Wagner Road in a Toyota Corolla when he failed to yield from a stop sign and began to cross Purple Sage as the bus entered the intersection, Adams said. The man was cited for inattentive driving. His name was not immediately available Tuesday.

The Corolla's driver complained of minor leg pain and was treated by paramedics at the scene and released, Adams said. The bus struck the rear portion of the Corolla's driver's side.
