Chat replay: Capturing Eighth & Main's rise

January 14, 2014

DARIN OSWALD — doswald@idahostatesman.com

He did what? Darin Oswald took about 4,000 frames and climbed 163,840 stairsteps taking pictures on 320 different days of the construction of the Eighth & Main tower Downtown.

Chat with him online today Oswald answered questions about how he did it during a live chat on Jan. 14. You can replay the chat below.

Oswald explains: “I walked a mile to visit six viewpoints in Downtown Boise and one spot in the Foothills snapping a photo a day: Each frame a little closer to completion than the last. The locations let me watch the building slowly fill a gap in the Boise skyline, growing taller through the seasons and rubbing shoulders with historic Boise.”
