Entitlements

Are government entitlement programs a blessing or a curse? Isn’t it ironic the food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever? Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to “Please Do Not Feed the Animals” because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to care for themselves.

Henry Ford warned: “Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the federal government take care of him had better take a closer look at the American Indian.” Wealth without labor has a crippling effect and destroys initiative, self-sufficiency, self-worth, prosperity and ambition.

President Reagan spoke against misguided government programs when he said, “The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.”

Is it possible work is so fundamental that we will come to know that it is a moral and spiritual necessity, even if the time comes when it is no longer an economic necessity? Robert Frost observed: “The world is full of willing people — some willing to work, and the rest willing to let them.”

Wonderful Life

Recently I watched the well known movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” starring Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed and other well-known actors.

At the end of the movie, Jimmie’s daughter Zuzu said upon hearing a bell ring on the Christmas tree, “Teacher says every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings!” And Jimmy, of course, agrees with a big “that’s right, that’s right.”

I thought if this were to happen today, this is what would take place. Zuzu would be expelled for a period of time due to separation of church and state! The teacher would be put on administrative leave for a period of time, the school district superintendent would blow off some nonsense about no Christian comments or actions in school, and then to top if off, the ACLU would launch a full-blown lawsuit against the teacher, principal, school district, maybe the janitor and anybody else they could intimidate! Having lived 75 short years — if life could only be as simple and relaxed as it was 55 to 60 years ago!

Trash pick up

My trash pick-up crew came by and left all the extra trash that did not fit into the bin. There were bags and boxes that the Christmas toys came in that are now full of wrapping paper still sitting out there. I called the city and the trash company and I was told the rule is anything not in the bin will not be picked up. As I look up and down the alley there is trash left at almost every house. As soon as the wind kicks up, there will be a mess of epic proportions on our hands and our towns will be a mess.

Good job local officials for not planning ahead and telling the contracted trash companies to just pick it up because everybody will have extra trash the week after Christmas.

Obamacare

Happy Obamacare New Year ... get ready for the biggest financial failure and disruption in American history due wholly to your election of President Obama and his cronies in the regime. From Eric Holder to clueless Harry in Nevada, Nancy in liberal/Marxist California and the ever-endearing Kathleen who engineered the largest collapse of any government program in needless Health and Human Services.

Add in the IRS, the unnecessary and worthless dozens of other bureaucratic government waste programs and you can see your own personal fiscal demise is next ... due to one single person at the top.

The gravy train is over ... he’s spent billions in tax dollars attempting to create, by fiat (not the car, liberals) and ex nihilo, a new green economy, his failed cap and trade bill ... the list is endless!

A binding incompetence of bureaucratic inefficiency of a sclerotic government perpetuated by a madman hell bent on controlling your lives, freedoms and guns ... all this done by a community organizer with zero experience, knowledge and with malice and forethought.

Hoard your money in cash and get ready for the fall of the Obama empire in the 2014 elections. Our prayers are answered. Happy Obamacare New Year failure ... the laughter is deafening already!

I am 64 years old with no health insurance. I was thrilled to be able to get Obamacare. For the first 10 days in October I tried to log in and finally on Oct. 10 I got logged in. They asked me several questions, then they queried me on things that would be on my credit report. I haven’t had any credit for over 5 years. They asked if I had an account with XXXXX Company, of which I said no. I instantly failed the identity test.

I immediately uploaded a copy of my driver’s license which they asked for. Today is Dec. 23. Since Oct. 10 I have not heard a word back. So today I called them as this is the last day. They had no record of me anywhere! I was finally able to get pricing for the insurance. It had a $6,500 deductible! This is insurance? So I said the heck with it and will just pay the $95 fine. I am so disappointed.

The future

Ask yourself this — What will the world be like in 50 years? Will robots do our work, or will mammoths walk the earth again? Many people in today’s society are dumbfounded by what might happen in half of a century. There are people today that have very low morals and their expectations are very low. Most people think that this will get worse and worse in the next half century. Other people believe that it will be different, like cooking our food, and that there will be self-driven cars. It all comes down to us. Future. What do you think?
