Caldwell man who ditched police apprehended

January 8, 2014

Jaime Ybarra

Jaime Ybarra, 27, reportedly led police on a high-speed chase after a Caldwell police officer tried to pull over a black GMC Yukon near North Georgia and Lincoln roads at about 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said Ybarra, a suspect in a burglary investigated by the Canyon County Sheriff's Office, failed to stop and fled eastbound on Lincoln toward Middleton Road at a speed above 85 miles per hour. Officers called off the pursuit because of heavy traffic as Ybarra neared the intersection of Middle Road and U.S. 20-26.

Several hours later, Ybarra was located at a hotel on Northside Boulevard in Nampa. With the assistance of Nampa police officers, authorities apprehended Ybarra at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

He was taken to the Canyon County Jail, where he was charged with reckless driving, eluding police and two counts of driving without privileges.

The investigation into the burglary is continuing and Ybarra may face additional charges.
