— Boise native Brian Scott will try to qualify for the Feb. 23 Daytona 500, his team Richard Childress Racing announced Tuesday.

Scott, who turns 26 on Sunday, made one previous start in NASCAR's Sprint Cup series, finishing 27th in Charlotte in the fall of 2013.

Scott, a Boise High graduate, will drive the No. 33 Shore Lodge-sponsored car.

He will also be a regular on the Nationwide Series in 2014, racing the No. 2 car. Scott finished seventh in the Nationwide Series points standings in 2013.

Richard Childress Racing will have four entries in the Daytona 500, NASCAR's signature race. Scott joins Ryan Newman, Austin Dillon and Paul Menard.
