Trail Blazers assign lottery pick to Stampede

STATESMAN STAFFJanuary 2, 2014

Portland assigned guard CJ McCollum to Idaho on Wednesday, and he is expected to be in uniform as the Stampede host Rio Grande Valley on Friday and Saturday nights.

McCollum, the 10th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, has been sidelined since fracturing his left foot in training camp. He averaged 21.3 points per game in four seasons at Lehigh while being named the Patriot League Player of the Year twice.

McCollum is the first player assigned by the Blazers to the Stampede this season. Portland is Idaho’s single NBA affiliate.
