Saint Alphonsus opens new Nampa maternity, heart center

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Nampa will open a new maternity and heart-care center near the freeway in Nampa this weekend. Patients will be accepted to the maternity center starting Sunday, and the heart center is expected to be fully operational next week.

The Birkeland Maternity Center and Heart Center at 4402 E. Flamingo Ave., Nampa, will have birthing rooms, enhanced services, a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and expanded treatment options and heart specialists for cardiac patients.

The centers will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday at 4 p.m., with tours, door prizes, free health screenings, activities for children and refreshments.
