Eastern Idaho man killed in snowmobile wreck

December 25, 2013

— A former Bonneville County Sheriff's deputy died in a snowmobile accident in eastern Idaho.

Authorities tell the Post Register (http://bit.ly/1gXyvl8) that 49-year-old Brent Deshon of Jefferson County died late Tuesday afternoon.

Bonneville County Sheriff's Sgt. Greg Rix says Deshon and his adult son were snowmobiling south of U.S. Highway 26 and east of Ririe Reservoir when he hit a hidden gulley.

Rix says the snowmobile flew 50 feet before hitting the ground, and that Deshon was thrown from the machine.

Cody Deshon tried to revive his father without success. He used a cellphone to call for help and guided rescuers to the crash site.

But emergency responders also failed to revive Brent Deshon and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
