Notable: This is Boise States first appearance in a major nonconference tournament since 2000. The Broncos have scored at least 100 points three times this season, already one shy of tying the school record.
GEORGE MASON PATRIOTS
Coach: Paul Hewitt (third season, 50-29)
Player to watch: Sherrod Wright, Sr., G, 6-4, 202 (16.3 ppg, 45.9 FG%)
Notable: The Patriots have struggled to score, averaging 66.3 points per game, 301st in the nation entering the weekend. During George Masons 2006 Final Four run, the Patriots beat North Carolina, Michigan State and Connecticut.

Notable: Hawaii and opening opponent Boise State are each averaging 86.4 points per game. All five Hawaii starters are averaging at least 10.3 ppg. Hawaiis five-game streak is one shy of its best since 2004-05.
IOWA STATE CYCLONES

Notable: The only ranked team in the field, the Cyclones 90.9 points and 19.8 assists per game were No. 1 in the nation entering the weekend. Iowa States 8-0 start is the second-best start in school history.
OREGON STATE BEAVERS

Notable: Collier, along with junior Roberto Nelson (22.1 ppg) are 1-2 in the Pac-12 in scoring. The Beavers are shooting 53.7 percent from the field, good for No. 2 nationally entering the weekend.
SAINT MARYS GAELS

Player to watch: Brad Waldow, Sr., F, (17.6 ppg, 7.3 rpg, five turnovers)
Notable: One of 13 unbeaten teams going into Saturdays games, and one of two in the Diamond Head Classic field (with Iowa State). Defeated Boise State 82-74 on Dec. 14 and could face the Broncos on Monday.
SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS
Coach: Frank Martin (second season, 16-23)
Player to watch: Sindarius Thornwell, Fr., G, 6-5, 206 (13.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg)
Notable: The Gamecocks have lost five of their past six. Senior guard Bruce Ellington has started two of the past three games he had 43 catches for 635 yards and six TDs for the Gamecocks football team this season.
