The third Dickey's Barbecue Pit in the Treasure Valley will open Thursday at 6708 N. Glenwood St., south of State Street in Garden City.

The Texas-barbecue restaurant is owned by local franchisees Wade Harris, a neurologist, and Lance Hale.

There currently are two more Dickey's restaurants in development at 16365 N. Marketplace Blvd. in Nampa and 12 N. Fisher Park Way in Eagle, according to the company. The chain already has restaurants in Meridian, Nampa, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls.

Harris and Hale plan to have six total in operation by 2016, according to a company press release.

The grand opening prizes include:

  • A free meal voucher with drink purchase for the next 100 customers.
  • Merchandise giveaways throughout the day Friday.
  • On Saturday, the restaurant will offer $2 pulled-pork barbecue sandwiches. One customer will win a gift card worth up to $500.

The fast-casual restaurant chain was founded more than 72 years ago by a Dallas family. There are more than 350 locations in 43 states.
