Caldwell man charged with jewelry theft

December 10, 2013

— A man accused of pocketing more than $2,000 worth of jewelry at a Milwaukee Street store was arrested Monday night, police said.

Store employees told police that Steven R. Oldham, 41, walked up to the counter at about 8:30 p.m. before concealing several pieces of jewelry and attempting to leave the store.

A Boise police retail crimes officer confronted the suspect outside the store, but the man resisted attempts to arrest him, police say. After he was taken into custody, officers say they found the jewelry on Oldham during a search.

Oldham was charged with felony grand theft, felony burglary and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing. Because he had been banned from the premises previously, he was also charged with misdemeanor trespassing.

Oldham was booked into the Ada County Jail Monday night, and is set for arraignment in court Tuesday afternoon.
