Idaho colleges roundup: Idaho State volleyball wins Big Sky title, heads to NCAAs

PORTLAND — The Bengals defeated Portland State 25-18, 29-27, 25-20 on Saturday night to earn their first league title since 1990. Idaho State will learn its NCAA Tournament future at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S BASKETBALL: Taylor Pruett led five players in double figures with 20 points, including a big 3-pointer late in the contest, as the Coyotes (9-3) closed nonconference play with a 99-87 victory over Montana Tech in Salt Lake City.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders (1-5) lost to Azusa Pacific 71-55 in the Ayres Inn & Suites CBU Classic in Riverside, Calif.

NNU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The 25th-ranked Crusaders (6-0) hit 14-of-17 shots to open the game and topped California Baptist 94-88 in the final game of the NNU Thanksgiving Classic in Nampa.

C OF I WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Jessica Martinez scored seven of her team-high 17 points in a 22-0 first-half run and the Coyotes (3-4) beat Walla Walla 89-52 to claim the title of the 14th annual Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites Lady Yote Classic in Caldwell.

IDAHO WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Vandals lost to No. 20 Cal 59-55 in the Jon Ascuaga’s Nugget Classic in Reno. Stacey Barr led Idaho (4-3) with 14 points.
