Free Downtown Boise parking on Black Friday

Hoping to drive business to more than 300 stores and restaurants Downtown, the city is making parking free at all its metered spaces Downtown Friday -- the day after Thanksgiving.

Regular parking rates will apply in public parking garages and private lots. The city will still enforce parking restrictions in loading zones and disabled-only parking spaces.

The parking meter waiver is standard in Boise on Black Friday.

Besides shoppers and diners, the waiver helps people who want to attend the Holiday Tree-Lighting Celebration. The event goes from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in the Grove Plaza between Capitol Boulevard and 9th, Front and Main streets.
