New road opened through the Boise Spectrum

November 23, 2013

A new road going past the Edward Boise Stadium 22 opened Friday evening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor Dave Bieter and other tenants of the Boise Spectrum development.

The owner of the shopping center near the intersection of Cole and Overland roads is investing more than $500,000 to build the road, add extra parking spaces, a drive-thru and other attractions to bring more traffic past the center's businesses.

The improvements by the D.D. Dunlap Cos. of Huntington Beach, Calif., will allow motorists to drive between the theaters and the retail shops and restaurants. They will also make it easier to find parking near those shops or to drop off passengers.

Planning began earlier this year and construction was on schedule.

Dunlap plans to add a water-and-fire feature and pop-up fountains next year. The company also expects to add playground equipment to attract more families during the day.
