Boise police school resource officers on Wednesday arrested a student accused of bringing a knife to a school for at-risk youth.

Westly Kelly McKay, 18, of Boise was in the Ada County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of carrying a weapon at school. A teacher at Victory Academy alerted the school resource officer after she saw a knife with a blade about 3 1/4 inches long, police said.

There was no threat associated with the incident, police said, and McKay was cooperative. He is due to appear in court on Thursday.
