Treasure Valley home sales fall in October

Statesman staffNovember 19, 2013

October typically ushers in slow sales in the Treasure Valley housing market. This October was slower than last year’s, according to the Intermountain Multiple Listings Service.

Could this be the end of the market’s post-recession rise? Hardly, says Janet Parsons, a real estate agent at Keller Williams Realty of Boise. She said the buying season started a month early in the spring and now it’s ending a little early. The lower year-over-year numbers don’t mean the market is experiencing a significant downturn, she says.

“I don’t think it’s abnormal,” Parsons says. “Sales might have changed sooner because interest rates were fluctuating, but this feels seasonal.”
