Coeur d'Alene eliminates Capital in the snow

STATESMAN STAFFNovember 16, 2013

Coeur d'Alene jumped out to a 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and Capital's high-powered offense couldn't gain traction on a snowy night in north Idaho. Tarik Littlejohn's 25-yard interception return for a touchdown cut the lead to 20-7 in the second quarter, but the Eagles couldn't sustain the momentum.

Ty Holgate ran for 176 yards and two touchdowns for Coeur d'Alene. Alex Kingmixay delivered the Eagles' lone offensive touchdown with a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter, and led the team with 53 rushing yards.

Coeur d'Alene sophomore quarterback Austin Lee filled in for the injured Gunnar Amos, the Vikings' regular starter who was out because of a broken ankle. Lee completed 8-of-15 passes for 105 yards with two TDs and two interceptions.

Capital quarterback Conner Poulson passed for 74 yards and ran for 50 more, and Littlejohn completed one pass for 65 yards and caught four passes for 33 yards. The Eagles have not won a state championship since 1991.
