Boise property acquisition, University of Idaho president announcements Nov. 18

Big purchase?

On Friday afternoon, Mayor Dave Bieter's office emailed word that he would "make a major announcement regarding an upcoming property acquisition being considered by the Boise City Council."

What could it be?

Foothills open space? Property for a baseball stadium? A new library? A new fire training center? Police shooting range? Streetcar line?

Mum's the word

"Details regarding the acquisition will be available at the event." At 11 a.m. Monday at City Hall. Stay tuned.

New U of I president will be ...

announced Monday. The Lewiston Tribune reported that the State Board meets Monday morning on campus.

Who could it be?

Finalists are Penn State-Erie Chancellor Donald Brix; University of Florida Senior Vice President Jack Payne; University of South Dakota Provost Chuck Staben; South Dakota State University Provost Laurie Stenberg-Nichols; and consultant James Applegate.

Where's Duane Nellis?

He left the U of I presidency to lead Texas Tech University earlier this year.
