Idaho colleges roundup: NNU women’s basketball team tops College of Idaho

NAMPA — Northwest Nazarene defeated the Coyotes 94-77 on Tuesday night. It was the first win for first-year coach Ryan Bragdon. Megan Hingston led the Crusaders (1-0) with 27 points, and Chelsie Luke pitched in with 21. Erica Martinez hit six 3-pointers on her way to scoring 22 points for the C of I (0-4).

C OF I MEN’S SOCCER: Corban scored 61 seconds into the second overtime to defeat the Coyotes 1-0 in the semifinals of the Cascade Conference tournament in Salem, Ore. Corban advanced to the championship game against Concordia, while the loss ended the season for the Coyotes (6-13-0).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S SOCCER: Fredy Razo is the Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s Newcomer of the Year after scoring a league-best 16 goals. Razo was also selected to the All-GNAC first team, as was teammate Jaime Torres. Juan Perez was named to the second team, and Luke Broz (Boise High) was an honorable mention.

IDAHO GOLF: Vandals coach John Means will be inducted into the Golf Coaches Association of American Hall of Fame on Dec. 9. Means previously coached at Colorado State, Army and Minnesota.
