Donnelly man killed in head-on crash with semi

November 12, 2013

A wreck on U.S. Highway 95 on Monday left one man dead and pushed a semi trailer into the river just north of Riggins.

Idaho State Police say Lester L. Ladner, 57, was headed north in a pickup when he veered across the center line. Ladner’s truck smashed into a southbound semi pulling a trailer.

The impact pushed the semi, driven by 30-year-old Jeremy Scheuerman, of Lewiston, off the road, down an embankment and into the river below.

Ladner was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Scheuerman was treated for his injuries by paramedics, but did not need to go to the hospital.

Both men were wearing seatbelts, police said. US 95 was blocked for six hours Sunday. The crash remains under investigation.
