Local colleges: Boise State women’s basketball narrowly beats LCSC

— Lexie Der recorded her fourth career double-double to lead Boise State (1-1) over Lewis-Clark State 76-68 at Taco Bell Arena on Monday night. Der scored a career-high 22 points and tied her high for rebounds with 14. Sophomore Keiahnna Engel also tallied a double-double, the first in her career, on 11 points and 12 boards. Brandi Henton was right behind Der in scoring with 19 points, while Miquelle Askew added 11.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders shot 49.2 percent, hit 15 shots from 3-point range and beat Willamette 91-74 in Nampa. True freshman guard Michael Loomis led NNU (1-1) with 16 points, while junior forward Kevin Rima had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Luedtke (Mountain View High) led Willamette with 16 points and eight rebounds. NNU plays at Idaho in an exhibition game Saturday.

NNU WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: Senior Natalie Evans (New Plymouth High) has been selected to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region Team. Evans finished eighth at the NCAA Division II West Region Championships in Spokane on Saturday, clocking a time of 22 minutes, 64.44 seconds on the 6k course. She races at the Division II national championships in Spokane on Nov. 23.
