Idaho Steelheads top Aces, avoid sweep

Idaho captain Justin Mercier scored two third-period goals to help the Steelheads defeat the Alaska Aces 4-2 on Saturday night in front of an announced crowd of 4,485 at CenturyLink Arena. Anthony Nigro and Tyler Gron scored the two other goals for Idaho, which lost the first two games of the three-game series.

Goaltender Patrick Nagle stopped 26-of-28 shots for Idaho (4-4-1). Idaho plays the final game of a six-game homestand when it hosts Ontario on Wednesday night.
