Hill’s clutch 3 lifts Idaho past W. Illinois

MOSCOW — Down 59-58 with just more than a minute left, Connor Hill hit a 3-pointer to give Idaho a 61-59 lead, and the Vandals went on to win 67-63. Stephen Madison scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had five assists, and Glen Dean added 15 points for Idaho (1-0). The Vandals led by as many as 10 in the second half before Western Illinois rallied. Garret Covington led Western Illinois (0-1) with 22 points.

IDAHO STATE CRUSHES EVERGREEN STATE: Jeffrey Solarin scored 23 points while Chris Hansen added 14 to lead Idaho State to a 99-62 victory over Evergreen State in Pocatello. Both men also collected 10 rebounds as Idaho State (1-0) outrebounded Evergreen State (1-3) of the NAIA 50-28.
