Driver crashes into Garden City bakery

November 2, 2013

The woman was driving through the parking lot of Pastry Perfection, 5855 N. Glenwood St. at about noon Saturday when she struck the front of the building.

Seventy-two-year-old Kathleen Ross was parking her 2004 Suzuki SUV in front of the building when the vehicle accelerated over the curbing, struck a handrail and came to rest after striking the front doors, a report from the Garden City Police Department said.

The impact dented a wall, cracked a window and sent display cake models flying, a store clerk said.

"It was really loud. We were pretty shook up after that," said the clerk, who didn't want her name used.

No one was injured, police said. There were several customers in the store at the time, but none were harmed, the clerk said.

No citations have been issued. Police are still investigating the crash.
