Stampede tap Baylor guard in first round

The Idaho Stampede selected Pierre Jackson in the first round of the NBA Development League Draft on Friday night.

Jackson, a 5-foot-10 point guard, played two seasons at the College of Southern Idaho before transferring to Baylor for his junior and senior seasons. The Bears won the NIT championship during his senior season.

In subsequent picks, the Stampede selected forward Kellen Thornton (6-foot-7, Tennessee State), forward Tracy Smith (6-8, N.C. State), forward Mohamed Fall (6-8, Montana State), guard Dion Dixon (6-3, Cincinnati) and guard Reggie Hearn (6-4, Northwestern) to complete their draft.

Earlier Friday, the team announced 10 players who are on the training-camp roster.

Guards: Dee Bost (6-2, Mississippi State), Reggie Hamilton (5-11, Oakland), Antoine Hood (6-4, Air Force), Christian Kabongo (6-4, New Mexico State), Lamont Morgan Jr. (5-10, BYU) and Richard Townsend-Gant (6-5, Vancouver Island University).

Forwards: Jason Ellis (6-7, Boise State), Richard Howell (6-8 N.C. State), Dallas Lauderdale (6-8, Ohio State) and EJ Singler (6-6 Oregon).
