Nampa woman nabbed after clothing theft

November 1, 2013

— A Nampa woman is behind bars after police say she stole clothing from a Meridian store, then tried to flee.

Ciecelia Marie Shepherd, 26, was stopped Thursday afternoon when an Idaho State Police officer saw her speeding out of the store’s parking lot at Locust Grove Road and Fairview Avenue in Meridian. The officer saw Shepard nearly hit another car before pulling her over, police said.

Shepherd had several clothing items on the seat of the car with tags and security devices still attached, the officer said. Employees at the store said they had seen Shepherd put the clothing items into a bag, also taken from the store, and head towards the exit.

When the employees confronted her, the suspect ran from the store and tried to drive away.

Shepherd was arrested and charged with felony burglary. She is scheduled for arraignment at the Ada County Courthouse Friday afternoon.
