Steelheads open homestand Friday, sign new goalie

STATESMAN STAFFNovember 1, 2013

BOISE - Idaho hosts the Ontario Reign on Friday and Saturday at CenturyLink Arena. It's the beginning of a six-game homestand. Home games start at 7:10 p.m.

The Steelheads open the weekend with new goaltender Garrett Bartus on the roster. Bartus, 24, made his professional debut last spring during the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs for the Greenville Road Warriors. He appeared in one game, stopping every shot he faced in relief for the Road Warriors in a loss to Reading. Prior to that, the St. Charles, Ill., product was the all-time leader in saves and wins at the University of Connecticut (NCAA), twice earning team MVP honors. Bartus joins fellow goalie Pat Nagle on the Steelheads' roster, while Josh Robinson continues his stay in the AHL with the Texas Stars.
