Former Boise State assistant AD dies

STATESMAN STAFFOctober 29, 2013

— Lori Hays, former assistant athletic director of operations and event management at Boise State, died Friday after a 2-year battle with a brain tumor. She started in the athletic department in 1985 and served in many capacities until May 2011, when she was diagnosed with cancer. She was 51.

“Lori was a great lady who loved her family, the Boise community, Boise State University and the Broncos,” said Max Corbett, assistant athletic director of communications. “She was a lady with an incredibly big heart who touched everyone she met in a positive way.”

Hays graduated from Bishop Kelly High in 1980 and earned a degree from Boise State in 1983. She is survived by her husband James and their two sons, Tim and Pat.

A celebration of Hays' life is scheduled for Nov. 9 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Barber Park Event Center (4049 Eckert Rd., Boise).
