3A state soccer roundup: McCall-Donnelly girls repeat as 3A champs

Brooke Thomas' hat trick and Taylor Howell's two goals helped McCall-Donnelly cruise to its third straight state championship.

Kylie Hoogendyk also scored, and Kathryn Egnew made 13 saves for the Vandals. McCall-Donnelly shut out each of its opponents in the state tournament, outscoring the competition 16-0.

GOODING 1, WEISER 1

Gooding wins 4-2 in penalty kicks

Gooding won its second consecutive state championship, this one on penalties against Weiser. Gooding has now won three titles since 2009. Weiser came up short while making its first state championship final appearance since 2000, when the Wolverines won the title. Juan Martinez scored Weiser's lone goal in regulation on a penalty kick to tie the game.
