Garden City man charged with DUI after hitting barrier

October 22, 2013

— A Garden City man was arrested Monday after police say he crashed into a concrete barrier on the Interstate 184 offramp to Franklin Street.

Police said Carlos M. Luna, 34, attempted to flee after the 1 a.m. wreck.

A witness told officers Luna’s car became disabled in the crash, and two people ran from it.

Officers found the suspect and his passenger in a nearby parking lot and determined that Luna had been driving when the car struck the barrier. He appeared extremely intoxicated and failed several field sobriety tests. During a breath test at the Ada County Jail, he blew a 0.3, police said.

Luna was charged with felony DUI, misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident and violation of his probation. Police said the suspect has prior felony DUI convictions.

Luna remains in the Ada County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
