Boise bar customers take down attempted robbery suspect

A Colorado man was booked into the Ada County jail on Sunday after police said he tried to rob a Boise bar and was taken down by customers.

Employees and witnesses told police that Adrian Lopez, 40, of Fort Lupton entered a bar near South Vista Avenue and Kootenai Street early Sunday and was looking for a phone.

The victim, a female employee, told police that Lopez produced a knife, held it to her stomach and demanded money. Witnesses said the victim began screaming and struggling when Lopez reached into the cash register.

That's when people in the bar started fighting with the suspect wrestled out the door. The suspect dropped the the knife, police said, and it was later found on the bar floor.

Lopez was located a short time later at a restaurant in the 2300 block of South Vista Avenue and was booked into the jail on a felony burglary charge.
