Live: Testimony at the St. Luke's-Saint Alphonsus trial

October 21, 2013

The federal trial over St. Luke's Health System's purchase of Saltzer Medical Group is now in its fifth week. Monday so far has been dedicated to rebuttals from the plaintiffs — state and federal regulators, rival Saint Alphonsus Health System and others — as the trial wraps up.

Saint Alphonsus, small Boise surgical center Treasure Valley Hospital, the Federal Trade Commission and the Idaho attorney general all say St. Luke’s acquisition of Saltzer has given St. Luke’s too much control over the primary-care market in Nampa. St. Luke’s says the acquisition is an essential piece of its campaign to make local health care more efficient and cost-effective.
