Trash can fires that damaged fence outside Boise home investigated as arson

October 20, 2013

— The fence outside a Boise home was damaged Sunday when someone set the contents of three trash cans on fire, according to Battalion Chief Tom Pawek.

A neighbor called 911 at 3:06 p.m. to report the fire, which started near Pacific and Palouse Streets. The man told investigators that he believed he heard children running away from the scene.

Pawek said the contents of the garbage cans was completely burned, so it was unclear what they contained. He estimated the damage to the 6-foot cedar fence at a couple hundred dollars.

The incident is being investigated by the Boise Police Department, Pawek said. Anyone with information about the fires may reach the department through Ada County's Non-Emergency Dispatch line: 377-6790.
