Idaho colleges roundup: Idaho doubles team tops Boise State in Las Vegas final

LAS VEGAS — Jose Bendeck and Cristobal Ramos defeated Garrett Patton and Brendan McClain 8-2 in the championship match at the USTA/ITA Mountain Region Championships on Saturday. In singles, BSU’s Andy Bettles lost in the semifinals to New Mexico’s Samir Iftikhar 6-4, 6-1.

BSU CROSS COUNTRY: Emma Bates captured the ISU Pre-National Invitational women’s 6-kilometer blue race in 20 minutes, 9.09 seconds, leading the Broncos (443 points) to 11th place in Terre Haute, Ind. The No. 19 BSU men totaled 313 points for an eighth-place finish. Georgetown (117) won the women’s title, and Colorado (90) won the men’s title.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO WOMEN’S SOCCER: Evergreen edged the Coyotes 2-1 in Olympia, Wash. Summer Jackson scored for the C of I (3-10-0, 1-5-0 Cascade) with an assist from Camas Curran.

C OF I CROSS COUNTRY: Led by a dominating performance by Hillary Holt (5k, 16:42), the second-ranked women’s team cruised to the team title at the Inland Empire Classic in Lewiston. C of I placed six runners in the top 15, earning a team score of 31 points, well ahead of second-place Lewis-Clark State (92).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S SOCCER: The Crusaders (3-4-5, 3-3-3 GNAC) lost to Saint Martin’s 1-0 in Nampa.

NNU WOMEN’S SOCCER: Central Washington scored on a penalty kick, defeating the Crusaders (1-9-3, 0-7-3 GNAC) 1-0 in Nampa.

NNU VOLLEYBALL: The Crusaders lost to Central Washington 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 in Ellensburg, Wash. Elayna Rice had 12 kills for NNU (10-5, 6-3 GNAC).

NNU CROSS COUNTRY: Natalie Evans ran a school-record race (5k, 17:31) to finish fifth at the Inland Empire Classic. The women took sixth (133), and the men (208) were eighth.
