Idaho jobless report delayed by federal shutdown

October 17, 2013

Federal government functions resumed Thursday, but the 16-day shutdown makes it impossible to calculate the monthly unemployment data for September, which normally would be released Oct. 18, the Idaho Department of Labor announced Thursday.

The temporary closure of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics limits the department’s ability to acquire the national and contiguous state data necessary for calculating and issuing its monthly report on time, the department said in a news release.

No new date has been set for the September jobless report. Once a date has been determined it will be posted at lmi.idaho.gov on the 2013 labor market information calendar page.
