Driver cited after hitting motorcycle rider

— The driver of an SUV was cited in a Wednesday morning crash that sent a motorcycle rider to the hospital.

The motorcycle rider was headed south on Federal way just before 7 a.m. when the crash happened. The woman in the SUV was northbound when she turned across traffic onto Apple Street, striking the motorcycle.

The rider was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The SUV’s driver was cited for failure to yield, a $90 fine.
