When duck and goose hunters pick up their Idaho Waterfowl Rules for the first time, theyre going to be wondering where the heck are the shooting hours.
The shooting hours were not included in the hunting regulations this year because of a policy change by the state wildlife agency.
I dont think its going to fly very far because waterfowl hunters have long depended on having the shooting hours in the waterfowl hunting regulations. Theyve been in the regs for as long as I can remember.
Waterfowl hunters especially need shooting hours handy because the starting and ending times are pretty strict.
Dont despair. You can download both the regulations and a list of the shooting hours from Fish and Games website.
I normally keep a pdf of fishing and hunting regulations on my computer. Its really handy.
To download both, go here.
Fish and Game said this week that hard copies of regulations and also the separate shooting hours are available at Fish and Game offices and license vendors.
Legal shooting hours for waterfowl are from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
There are other places to get sunrises and sunsets, such as on weather web pages, GPS units and through smartphone apps.
Im old-fashioned and just like having a hard copy of shooting hours in the rigs glovebox and my hunting daypack.
