9-year-old boy hit by car in Kuna

October 8, 2013

— A boy riding a bicycle was struck by an SUV on Linder Road near the Deer Flat intersection Tuesday morning, dispatchers said.

The 9-year-old was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to the hospital but did not appear to have any serious injuries, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses said the boy was riding northbound on the Linder Road sidewalk when he crossed a driveway that led to several businesses.

The SUV was headed south on Linder and turning into the driveway when it hit the boy.

The car was only going about 5 miles per hour, spokesman Patrick Orr said, but the impact knocked the boy from his bike and caused him to hit his head.

The boy was on his way to school when he was hit at about 7:30 a.m. The driver of the SUV was not cited.

A Kuna police officer gave the boy a helmet after the crash.
