Man charged with felony for attack with dumbbell

October 8, 2013

— A Boise man was charged with a felony after police said he struck another man in the head with a dumbbell.

Ryan Jake Taylor, 25, got into an argument with the victim at a Boise Bench home Sunday morning.

The altercation turned violent, witnesses told police, and at one point Taylor swung the five-pound weight at the other man’s head. The victim suffered injuries that did not appear life-threatening, police said.

Taylor faces a charge of felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He remains in Ada County Jail on a $25,000 bond. At an arraignment Monday afternoon, the suspect was also barred form having any contact with the victim.

Taylor is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Oct 21. If convicted of the charge, Taylor could face up to 15 years in prison.
