Police: Woman arrested after attacking stranger with knife, rock

October 7, 2013

— A Boise woman is in the Ada County Jail after police say she tried to stab a man and hit him with a rock.

Police say Anna Marie Rhodes, 32, attacked the man Friday near South Vista Avenue and West Canal Street by shoving him from behind. Rhodes and the victim did not know one another, and it is unclear what prompted the attack.

Witnesses said Rhodes had a knife in one hand and a rock in the other. She tried to hit and stab the man, but he was able to block the blows, police said.

Witnesses called 911, and when officers arrived, Rhodes refused to follow commands and resisted officers’ attempts to take her into custody.

She was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor resisting arrest. She was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
