Blessing of the Animals

Once a year, on the Feast of St. Francis, pets are invited to the Saturday service at St. Michael's Cathedral for the Blessing of the Animals. Sometimes a gerbil or hamster is in attendance, but this year featured all dogs and one brave cat. "I'm convinced they're totally in tune with what we're doing. They just don't have the language," says Rich Demarest, dean. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 in Boise, Idaho.
