General deer season opens Oct. 10

Most Idaho regions open on that date, but check for different closing dates in Fish and Game’s Big Game Rules. A regular deer tag allows hunters to take either mule deer or white-tailed deer. A white-tailed deer tag allows a hunter to take only a whitetail, but have a longer hunting season.
