Statesman staffOctober 2, 2013

Boise officials are providing notice to drivers that traffic will be affected during funeral events for former Idaho Secretary of State Pete Cenarrusa and Bureau of Land Management smokejumper Mark Urban.

Rolling closures - which will cause momentary delays - will occur Thursday as Boise police escort Cenarussa's casket from Summers Funeral Home to lie in state at the Capitol.

The procession will leave the funeral home, at 1205 W. Bannock Street, at 11:15 a.m. and follow Bannock, 5th Street and West Jefferson Street to the Statehouse.

For Cenarrusa's funeral, set for 10 a.m. Friday at St John’s Cathedral, 775 N. 8th Street, 8th will be closed between Hayes Street and Fort Street from 9 a.m. until about 11:15 a.m.

Cenarussa died Sept. 29 at age 95.

There will be rolling closures Friday as a police-escorted procession leaves the Boise Funeral Home at 8209 W. Fairview Avenue and heads down Fairview, Orchard Street, Overland Road, Federal Way, Broadway and Commerce Avenues, passes in front of Boise Fire Station 7, continues along Development avenue and arrives at the east entrance of the National Interagency Fire Center. NIFC is located at 3833 S. Development Ave. The procession is scheduled to leave the funeral home at about 1 p.m.

The memorial service will start at 2 p.m. at NIFC.

Urban died Sept. 27 about 45 miles east of Boise when something went wrong with the deployment of his parachute during training.
