September 30, 2013

Boise Cascade, a Boise-based wood products manufacturer and building materials distributor, announced Monday it has completed the acquisition of Wood Resources LLC’s southeast operations for $102 million.

The acquisition includes South Carolina-based Chester Wood Products, which produces softwood plywood and veneer for various markets, and North Carolina-based Moncure Plywood, a specialty plywood mill that both hardwood and softwood panels.

“The addition of these two well-run plywood plants will strengthen our footprint and enable us to better serve our customers in the Eastern and Southeastern United States,” said Boise Cascade CEO Tom Carlile.

Kurt Liebich, CEO of Wood Resources, said his company will now focus its efforts and investment on its two plywood operations in the Pacific Northwest. Wood Resources purchased Chester and Moncure from Weyerhaeuser Corp. in 2004.
