Cougs stymie Vandals

PULLMAN — Washington State (3-1) used a 21-point second quarter to blow out Idaho 42-0 at Martin Stadium. Connor Halliday threw for 346 yards overall and four touchdowns in the first half, three of which covered at least 20 yards. The Cougars’ defense held on a goal-line stand late in the fourth quarter to preserve the shutout. Freshman Chad Chalich completed 17-of-23 passes for 167 yards for Idaho, but the Vandals only gained 79 rushing yards. Idaho (0-4) hosts Temple (0-3) at 3 p.m. MDT Saturday.
