Concrete Leaf Workshop: 9 a.m. Sept. 21 (part 1) and 6 p.m. Sept. 26 (part 2) at Idaho Botanical Garden, 2355 N. Penitentiary Road, Boise. Create a garden ornament using concrete and a large leaf. Cover your leaf with wet cement on Saturday and return to the garden on Thursday to finish. $20 members, $25 nonmembers. Registration required. 343-8649, idahobotanicalgarden.org.

The Tomato Beer Garden: 3 to 7 p.m. at Boise Co-op, 888 W. Fort St. Sample the magic of locally-brewed beer (courtesy of Payette Brewing Co.) combined with the fresh juice of locally-grown heirloom tomatoes. Free.

Firewise Landscape: Concepts and Techniques: 6:30 p.m. at Idaho Botanical Garden, 2355 N. Penitentiary Road, Boise.
